The owners of a Cleethorpes takeaway enjoyed a trip of a life time to Seoul in South Korea
after being named among the top five in a prestigious East Asian Cooking contest.

Paul and Josephine Wong, who have owned and run the Canton Chinese takeaway

in Middlethorpe Road for the past five years, won the dream holiday after taking part in the
2013 Global Seoul Fusion Korean Food audition.

After entering a video showing how to cook delicious Korean-style chicken soup,

the couple were delighted to be named among the top five. Their prize was a visit to Seoul for the Delicious Seoul Story Gourmet Tour for five days in November
where they took part in a live cook-off, with their same soup dish,
showcasing their cooking skills to the world.

Paul 45, and Josephine 30, came to Grimsby from Sabah in Malaysia nice years ago.

'' We learned a lot about each other in Seoul and We want to fill our lives with interesting and
Good memories, said Paul.  '' We worked very hard to achieve our dream trip.

It was amazing to be able to go.
'' We heard about the contest and we immediately knew we wanted to enter.'' said Josephine.

The judges scored the couple 60 percent for their video entry based on their creativity

execution of the recipe and passion for Korean cuisine.

The general public score, based on the number of views and likes on their video, which was uploaded to Youtube, was 40 percent.

The Seoul trip included various Korean cuisine-related experiences including enjoying dinner with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Fellow winners made dishes included Korean fried chicken, Bibimbap with a Moroccan twist

and Bulgogi spring rolls.

Paul said: '' To be honest, at first, I don't think we had a chance of winning but we really gave it our best. '' We are so proud as it is a great achievement to have made it so far ''.

'' When we saw the announcement, we just said '' wow '' it's fantastic, just like a dream for us. '' It was a fantastic cooking contest and a wonderful opportunity to visit Seoul with the other wonderful finalists and we really enjoyed the whole experience. ''

Paul and Josephine are now expanding their food empire, having recently bough a restaurant in Hooley, Surrey, which will open soon.
